Tara Kinateder, CEPA®, joined Ferguson Wellman in 2017 as executive vice president and portfolio manager, working with individuals and families concentrated in Oregon, Washington, California, Arizona and Georgia. She is a Certified Exit Planning Advisor with nearly 20 years of professional investment experience. Tara is a trusted resource for individual and multigenerational clients regarding values-based investing, wealth planning and asset preservation matters. She is a member of the firm’s Global Sustainable Investing strategy team, serves on the practice management committee, is a principal shareholder of the firm and oversees our office in Bellevue, Washington.
Prior to joining the firm, Tara led the Portland office for U.S. Trust as a market leader and private client advisor. She previously worked for Bernstein Wealth Management in New York and Washington state as a financial advisor.
Tara earned her B.A. from Brenau University, graduating magna cum laude. She received a certificate in personal financial planning from the University of Washington’s Michael G. Foster School of Business and a certificate in investment strategies and portfolio management from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.
She currently serves as a board member for the Oregon Business Academy and a trustee for the Legacy Health Foundation and the Portland Art Museum. She also serves as a finance committee and board member for The Dougy Center and on the Portland Business Journal’s Leadership Council. Tara is also on the house committee and membership committee for the Arlington Club, and is a membership advancement committee member for the Waverley Country Club. Previously, Tara served as Vice Chair for Play It Forward, a board member of the nonprofit Sexual Assault Resource Center of Oregon, chair of the Classic Wines Auction Foundation board and co-chaired the annual gala; is a past board member of the Oregon Food Bank as well as the Children’s Cancer Association where she chaired the finance committee and served as past board member for the Oregon Repertory Singers. In 2020, Tara was recognized by the Portland Business Journal as one of Portland’s “Women of Influence.”
Tara and her husband, Eddie, live in Lake Oswego and enjoy golf, backpacking, traveling and entertaining friends and family in their free time.
