Ferguson Wellman Recognized as a Most Admired Company by Portland Business Journal

Ferguson Wellman Capital Management has been named by Portland Business Journal as a “most admired company” of the year. Of the 26 financial services companies listed, Ferguson Wellman was ranked fourth, moving up five spots from nine in 2022.

The list was compiled by surveying over 3,700 senior business executives across Oregon and southwest Washington, with more than 300 leaders responding to the survey. Executives were asked to select three companies they most admired in 10 industries, as well as three companies they most admired across all industries. Companies eligible for consideration were not limited to those based in Oregon and southwest Washington but included any business with a substantial presence in the region.

“In our business, trust is paramount,” said Steve Holwerda, CFA, managing director. “We work hard every day to earn and ensure our clients’ trust. To receive an award like this from the critical eye and educated opinion of our region’s leaders is a recognition of our reputation and one we do not take for granted. We are grateful to be a part of Portland’s business community and a part of this esteemed list.”

Following the awards event, Portland Business Journal released a roundtable discussion with leaders of businesses and nonprofits. When asked about what makes companies successful, our colleague Ralph Cole, CFA, said, "Our founders established an ownership culture that is alive today in our firm. With 40 of our 60 employees owning part of Ferguson Wellman, we continually see how that opportunity impacts the way we treat our clients, colleagues and company."
